Opening up to "everyone"

I decided to go ahead and open this blog up to the world, and by world I mean Facebook. Posting here in the safe realm of just a few people who I know will be supportive has given me the confidence to go ahead and "go public." So, if you are new to this blog welcome. If you have already been here, thanks! (and I know you will have my back if someone is being unnecessarily mean!)

Why am I so nervous??

  1. You are so brave to share this with everyone! Me and a group of girls at work all wanted to loose weight, so every friday we weigh ourselves...the humiliation at the prospect of getting fatter in front of everyone was meant to spur us all on! And for the first couple of weeks it worked...but 16 weeks down the line..some are around 1lb lighter! Some heavier! But I have amazed myself and managed to loose 18lbs!! This is the first time in my life that i have 'dieted' and even really weighed myself. My secret?? Pure jealousy!! My sister is in our 'fat club' and I didn't want her to be skinnier than me! Sounds mean i know...but it works for me! Recently I had a couple of weeks of..and ate like a queen :o) Meals out...full fat coke and vodka...and I put on 6lb!!! eekkk! So this last week i have been super good and lost 5.5lb! I have never lost that much before, its always 1-2lb max a week.

I'll share my weight with you too...188lbs....so I would LOVE to loose another 40...we'll see :o) I think that exercise is going to be the next step..which i hate! I wish you lots of luck, and now your progress is online...you have NO choice but to stick to it!

    Good Luck x x x

  2. I admire your courage, Mylynka, and don't think you have any reason to be nervous about 'going public'. I think you'll find nothing but support and positive feedback simply because weight is an issue we all struggle with and because you are too sweet for anyone to leave negative feedback:) I look forward to reading about your journey and I already love the fact that you've given yourself such a realistic time line to lose the weight. Too many people try to lose 100 pounds in a month and it's just not healthy. I, too, have recently set a weight loss goal, and already am having some difficulty reaching even my short term goals. Your blog is a wonderful idea to help you gain the support you'll need to stick with your program and reach your long term goal! I'll offer any advice/support that I can and wish you nothing but the best of luck and strength in your journey ahead!

  3. I think you'll find that most people are incredibly supportive. And if not, you know the Saints are ready to posse up at any moment. :-) Keep your head up and remember what I said, small steps... Love and hugs.

  4. Mylynka - I am so impressed with your blog. You are incredibly brave, to bring this in front of everyone, including bring very honest with yourself. I think most will find very similar patterns in our own lives, like you I am an ambitious finisher. This works well when I'm trying to complete a deadline on a project, but isn't so admirable when I am constantly thinking that I need to finish up a bag of chips or cookies. Good luck on your current path to really change your life and get healthy. Like your other posts have said - I'm sure that you will find a lot of support and a lot of love!! Best of luck to you!!
